Virat Kohli, with his passion towards the game, fitness ethics, and aggression on the field, has certainly been an inspiration for a certain generation of cricket viewers. It is not just his demeanor on the field and his fitness; he also managed to score runs and is among the great batters India has ever produced. His story, like any other successful sports person, is filled with turns and twists and will make an engaging biopic. When the topic came up, Kohli, in an interaction with footballer Sunil Chhetri, said he would cast himself for his role in his biopic. However, now the question arises, which filmmaker will be able to replicate Kohli’s life struggles on screen, generating heartwrenching drama?
Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, who is amongst the celebrated Indian filmmakers in modern times, when asked if he would take the chance of making Kohli’s biopic, left the glass half empty by saying he would choose a tougher subject like a person’s life than Kohli’s tale, whom Kashyap called a “hero.”

“I don’t know if I would want to because he’s already a hero to many people, to many children. If I have to do a biopic, I would choose a difficult subject, a person’s life,” said Kashyap on with Filmygyan. “He is a very beautiful man. I know him personally, and he is a very authentic human being. He is very emotional; he is an incredible person.”

Dramatic arc
Kohli was 18-years-old when his father passed away and was representing Delhi in a Ranji Trophy match against Karnataka. He was unbeaten on 40 and despite hearing the sad news of his father’s demise, Kohli continued playing in the match, adding another 50 to his overnight score, thus helping his side edge past the follow-on score.
“I came back from the game for the last rites and promised my brother that I will play for India. My father was keen that I play for India and that was when everything in life became second priority. Cricket became the first priority,” Kohli said Graham Bensinger in an interview.
