On dropping the weight for this race:
It is not ideal. It is not getting easier, definitely. I feel good and as strong as I possibly could. I definitely will be happy when the day is over, though.
How many weeks notice did you get?
Two weeks. The Hawkes team made their mine up after his run in the Caulfield Guineas. That was enough. It has been a long two weeks.
How do you get down to 49.5kg?
I am normally 52.5. I have got to lose three kilos. Ideally, I watch what I eat and drink first for a week and see how low that gets me and the rest is training with sweat gear on and today jumping in the sauna to rip that last bit off, but I hate doing. I try to avoid that at all costs.
Do you think you can win?
100 per cent. I wouldn’t do it if I didn’t think I could win. I am not here to be part of the race. I am here to win the race.
