Crystal Palace have had a £48m bid for Jørgen Strand Larsen accepted by Wolves, after the south London club reignited their interest in the striker.
The Norway international, who joined Wolves on a permanent deal from Celta Vigo last summer for £23m, has scored one Premier League goal this season. The 25-year-old was a substitute for Wolves’s 2-0 home defeat to Bournemouth on Saturday.
Palace have offered £43m, plus £5m in add-ons after appearing to go cold on the deal but, with Wolves looking to be active in the winter window, they have accepted the bid. The FA Cup winners had last week verbally agreed in principle to sign Strand Larsen for £45m, plus £5m in add-ons, but have now come to an agreement over the final makeup of the deal. The player is expected to undergo a medical on Sunday.
The deal may allow Jean-Philippe Mateta to seal a £30m switch to Milan, who are in talks with Palace for the France forward. The 28-year-old has told Palace he wants to leave.
Wolves are pursuing deals for the Southampton striker Adam Armstrong and the Marseille midfielder Angel Gomes before Monday’s transfer deadline.
Nottingham Forest have signed Stefan Ortega on a permanent deal from Manchester City, the goalkeeper signing a contract until the end of the season. The 33-year-old will provide competition for Matz Sels after No 2 John Victor was ruled out for the season.
Ortega made 56 appearances for Pep Guardiola’s side after joining in 2022. Edu, Forest’s global head of football, said: “When it became clear the goalkeeper position was somewhere we needed to address, Stefan stood out straight away. He will provide great competition for our group of goalkeepers, and will help the team on and off the pitch.”
Liverpool, meanwhile, are locked in talks to bring Lutsharel Geertruida to Anfield.
The Netherlands international joined Sunderland on loan from RB Leipzig last summer and has so far made 17 appearances for the Black Cats. Arne Slot worked with the versatile defender, who can play across the back line and also as a defensive midfielder, while at Feyenoord with the pair winning the Eredivisie in 2023.
Slot has made it plain he wants to bulk up Liverpool’s squad for the remainder of the season with both Jeremie Frimpong and Conor Bradley injured, while Joe Gomez is also currently out of action. Sunderland would want compensation for the deal to go ahead and ideally recruit a replacement.
Slot would like to bring in two players during this window and the champions have been linked with the Rennes centre-back Jérémy Jacquet. Chelsea are also interested, although the Ligue 1 club are more open to a summer transfer.
The former Everton striker Ademola Lookman is in advanced talks to join Atlético Madrid from Atalanta in a £35m deal.
The Brighton forward Tommy Watson, who signed from Sunderland last summer, has joined Championship high-flyers Millwall on loan until the end of the season.
