The auction will take place nearly a month after the retention deadline, which the IPL recently informed the franchises will be November 15. Soon after that, the IPL will send the franchises the registered pool of players to shortlist from before the final list is sent out, along with the order of the sets, in the week leading into the auction.
The IPL trade window has seen just two trades since the 2026 season ended. According to the IPL rules, the trade window starts a month after a season ends, stays open up to a week before the auction date, and then continues up until a month before the start of the next season.
The IPL has not yet finalised the dates for the 2027 season. But, in 2024, while announcing the dates for the following three seasons, it had chalked out the window between March 14 and May 30. However, in September this year, post the BCCI’s AGM, board secretary Devajit Saikia had indicated that the tournament could start in March-end.
