Haris Rauf joins Adelaide Strikers for BBL 2026-27

“Haris is a proven match-winner who has performed at the highest level in international cricket and franchise competitions around the world,” Strikers coach Tim Paine said in a club statement. “Strikers fans are going to love watching him steam in at Adelaide Oval. He’s one of the fastest bowlers in world cricket and has the ability to change a game in an instant.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Haris to Adelaide for the entire tournament. He’s an exciting player, a fierce competitor and someone who will bring plenty of energy to our group. Having all of our international players available for the entire tournament was a key priority throughout our off-season and we believe it will be a significant advantage for our side.”

Rauf has played five seasons of the BBL so far, all for Melbourne Stars since 2019-20. Last season he was the top wicket-taker with 20 wickets in 11 innings. Overall, he played 33 games for Stars during his long stint, picking up 56 wickets.

“I can’t wait to get started with the Adelaide Strikers. Adelaide Oval is one of the great cricket venues in the world and I’ve always enjoyed playing there,” Rauf said. “The Strikers have a strong squad with world-class players like Ben Stokes, Matt Short and Mark Chapman, so I’m really excited about the opportunity to play alongside them.

“We’ve got a talented group and I’m looking forward to contributing wherever I can to help the team push deep into the finals and compete for a championship.”

In his only appearance in an ODI at the Adelaide Oval, the Strikers home ground, Rauf took 5 for 29 against Australia back in November 2024 to set up a nine-wicket win for Pakistan. And in his only T20I appearance at the venue, during the 2022 T20 World Cup, Rauf had 1 for 21 against Bangladesh in a five-wicket win.

Strikers have won the BBL title only once, in the 2017-18 season. They failed to make the playoffs last season after finishing sixth. The BBL seasons begins on December and Strikers’ first game is against Sydney Thunder on December 16 in Canberra.
