Under-fire Tottenham Hotspurs boss Ange Postecoglou has said that the way his team is as a group, even Liverpool attacker Mohamed Salah wouldnât score the number of goals he is bagging for his club. The Egyptian has currently 21 goals in 27 games in a contract year and has caught eyes with his output for the league leaders Liverpool.
âMo is a world-class player, but if you put him in our team now Iâm not sure heâll have that same level of performance because of the situation weâre in as a group,â said the Spurs boss.

âHis attacking play, who do you need? You need a team thatâs kind of in good form, creating opportunities, playing on the front foot, having a really solid foundation of a defence that is cohesive. None of these things exist at the moment.â
âYouâve always got to give context. He [Salah] is playing in a fantastic team that is flying at the moment,â he explained.
Postecoglou then said that if Korean attacker Son Heung-min was added to the Liverpool squad, his goalscoring would also rocket because of the team that he was a part off.
âIâd hazard to say that if you put Son Heung-min in Liverpoolâs team, I reckon his goalscoring return would be decent. Itâs hard for our players at the moment, theyâre trying awfully hard to be the best they can be.
âBut when weâre at our best, I still think youâll see Sonnyâs return, in terms of his ability to score goals and be really effective for us. I donât think thatâs diminished at all,â said Postecoglou.
Tottenham have lost three and drawn one of their last four matches and are set to face Liverpool in the Carabao Cup semi-final.
