The current top five British male and female ranked players in the ATP and WTA standings

Sir Andy Murray may no longer be largely carrying British tennis hopes following his retirement at Wimbledon in 2024.

However, there is still a collection of talented British players flying the flag currently – with Jack Draper leading the way for the men, and former US Open champion, Emma Raducanu, among the top ranked women.

The top five ranked British male players

1 – Jack Draper (5th)

Jack Draper, 23, is left-handed and was born in Sutton. Coached by James Trotman, Draper is known for his strong serve and aggressive left-handed groundstrokes. Considered one of the rising stars in British tennis, he has achieved a career-high ranking within the top 50 on the ATP tour and reached the fourth round at Wimbledon in 2022.

2 – Jacob Fearnley (54th)

Born in Worcester, the 23-year-old Jacob Fearnley, representing Great Britain, is coached by Toby Smith and Juan Martin. Known for his powerful serve and bold baseline play, Fearnley is competing on the ATP Challenger Tour and ITF circuits as a rising player aiming to establish himself on the ATP Tour. He is considered a promising young British talent.

3 – Cameron Norrie (90th)

Born in Johannesburg, South Africa, the 29-year-old Cameron Norrie, representing Great Britain, is coached by Facundo Lugones. Known for his consistent left-handed groundstrokes, Norrie is a consistent top-20 player on the ATP Tour, reaching a career-high ranking within the top 10. His notable triumphs include winning the prestigious Indian Wells Masters title in 2021 and reaching the semifinals of Wimbledon in 2022.

Billy Harris, 30, from Nottingham is coached by Geoff Harris. Known for his serve and fiery net game, Harris is competing on the ATP Challenger Tour and ITF circuits as a player working to prove himself on the ATP Tour. He has achieved a career-high ranking within the top 200 and has shown promising results in recent Challenger events.

The 28-year-old Jan Choinski is coached by Andrzej Choinski and Gunter Bresnik. Known for his solid all-around game, Choinski is competing on the ATP Challenger Tour and ITF circuits as a player working to establish himself on the ATP Tour. He has achieved a career-high ranking within the top 200 and has shown promising results in recent Challenger events.

Top five ranked British female players

1 – Katie Boulter (38th)

The 28-year-old began playing tennis at age 5 and idolised tennis icon Serena Williams. Her mother, Susan, is a former tennis coach, and she is currently coached by Biljana Vesilinovic. Known for her serve and aggressive groundstrokes, Boulter has achieved her best Grand Slam results by reaching the third round at both Wimbledon (2022, 2023, 2024) and the US Open (2023). Currently ranked within the top 100 on the WTA tour, Boulter is a fan of her hometown football team, Leicester City.

2 – Emma Raducanu (43rd)

Raducanu’s favourite shot is her forehand and she began playing tennis at age five. Born in Toronto, the 22-year-old moved to Bromley, southeast London, aged two. She achieved a historic victory by winning the 2021 US Open as a qualifier. She also reached the fourth round at Wimbledon in 2021 and 2024. A player who has reached a career-high ranking within the top 10 of the WTA tour, Raducanu became a global sensation and inspired many with her Grand Slam win.

3 – Sonay Kartal (53rd)

Coached by Julie Hobbs and Ben Reeves, Kartal started playing tennis at the age of six at Pavilion & Avenue Tennis Club, where she still trains to this day. The 22-year-old idolises Kim Clijsters, Roger Federer, and Andy Murray. A determined baseliner with a developing all-court game, Kartal achieved her best Grand Slam result by reaching the third round at Wimbledon in 2024 and the first round of the Australian Open in 2025. Currently working her way up the WTA rankings, she is considered a player with huge potential.

4 – Francesca Jones (113th)

Coached by Lourdes Domínguez Lino, Adam Thornton Brown, and Carlos Martinez, Jones moved from her native Oxenhope, West Yorkshire, to train in Barcelona from age nine. She was born with ectrodactyly ectodermal dysplasia, a rare genetic condition affecting her hands and feet. Jones is known for her determined and resilient playing style. She has reached the first round of the Australian Open (2021) and Wimbledon (2021, 2024) and currently competes on the WTA and ITF circuits, inspiring many with her presence on the professional tour.

5 – Harriet Dart (118th)

Coached by Nigel Sears, the 28-year-old Harriet Dart was introduced to tennis at age seven by her parents. Born in Hampstead, London, she is known for her relentless court coverage. She has achieved her best Grand Slam results by reaching the third round at Wimbledon (2019, 2024) and the second round at the Australian Open (2020, 2025) and the US Open (2022, 2024).
