Emma Raducanu confirms what her relationship is like with Katie Boulter and says if she wants to be British number one

Emma Raducanu is making the most of her time at the Queen’s Club Championships.

For the first time in 52 years Queen’s is on the WTA Tour’s schedule and it is something they have been wanting for some time.

The tournament has been a regular fixture on the ATP Tour over the years, but now the women of today have a chance to compete at the prestigious grass court event.

The likes of Emma Raducanu and Katie Boulter lead the charge for British success at Queen’s and the 2021 US Open champion is going for glory in both singles and doubles.

What is Emma Raducanu’s relationship like with Katie Boulter and does she want to be British number one again?

Alongside her pursuit for singles glory, Raducanu has teamed up with Boulter to play doubles at Queen’s.

Raducanu had played just one previous doubles match in her career and she expressed the nerves she felt ahead of their opening match.

But the pair played well and secured a 6-4, 6-2 victory to move into the next round and they appeared to have a good time while doing it.

Raducanu is currently the British number two behind Boulter and having occupied that spot before, the 22-year-old commented on her relationship with Boulter and if she wants the top spot back.

“Well I mean the tournament is still young and Katie can go on and rip this week as well, so I… Honestly, in a way it’s nice having something to chase at one, but we [Raducanu and Boulter] have such a great relationship that it’s a very healthy competition,” Raducanu said.

“I think honestly as a team right now we are so strong with all of us doing well, and all of us through to the second round pretty much.”

Raducanu and Boulter both played their roles in helping Great Britain reach the 2024 Billie Jean King Cup finals.

They plan on reaching that stage in 2025, but this time going even further and trying to win the tournament.

As it stands Raducanu, Boulter and British number three Sonay Kartal have all reached the second round of Queen’s, and Raducanu hopes the British team produces some consistent results with Billie Jean King Cup at the end of the season.

“It really helps the Billie Jean King Cup especially having a strong one, two especially, so me and Katie right now at least I think we really help the team in that way.

“I just know I can trust her in those team situations and those competitions I actually put a lot of heart and emotion into.

“I’m really looking forward to hopefully playing at the end of the year. And it’s just a great environment to be in to be honest, it’s a healthy competition.”
