Emma Raducanu points out ‘really, really impressive’ thing about Carlos Alcaraz

Emma Raducanu and Carlos Alcaraz are set to play together at this year’s US Open, competing in the mixed doubles competition.

The 2022 US Open champion and reigning two-time Wimbledon champion will be hoping to make waves in the competition, which will feature the likes of Jannik Sinner, Jack Draper and Iga Swiatek.

Raducanu, who is very similar to Alcaraz, spoke to the Lawn Tennis Association about her thoughts ahead of her upcoming partnership with the two-time French Open champion.

Emma Raducanu impressed by Carlos Alcaraz’s French Open transition

Speaking to the LTA, Raducanu spoke about the Spaniard in great light.

She said: Yeah he messaged me and asked me to play and, I mean, I was very surprised and excited, of course. Yeah, it’s going to be so much fun and I’ve known him for such a long time, so many years.

“So, to kind of share the court together is something really, really special and I really want to do the best I can not to let my partner down.”

The 22-year-old will be hoping to prepare well for Wimbledon by performing well at the Eastbourne Open, after she lost to Olympic champion Qinwen Zheng in the quarter-finals of Queen’s Club. Raducanu was quick to praise Zheng’s performance after the loss.

Raducanu, who recently played at the Queen’s Club Championships with her good friend Katie Boulter, is playing her first-round match at the Eastbourne Open just after midday on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Alcaraz continued his terrific form, winning his second Queen’s Club title after defeating Czechia’s Jiri Lehecka. Alcaraz could move closer to Roger Federer’s Wimbledon record if he follows up his Queen’s triumph with a third consecutive Wimbledon title.

“It’s just routine for him to win tournaments it’s just incredible. But to transition how he did from French to Queen’s so fast, it’s really, really impressive, and [I have] literally no other words than ‘wow, well done.’
