Serena Williams’ former coach states where he thinks Nick Kyrgios ranks against the top servers of all time

Nick Kyrgios is undoubtedly one of the most talented players of the last decade, producing an entertaining brand of tennis every time he steps onto the court.

Kyrgios burst onto the tennis scene in 2014, beating Rafael Nadal in the Wimbledon fourth round.

The Australian has struggled with injuries since competing in the 2022 Wimbledon final, but tennis fans have not forgotten his electric style of play and brutal groundstrokes.

One such fan, Serena Williams’ former coach, has taken a liking to the Australian’s serve and assessed where it ranks in tennis history.

Patrick Mouratoglou says Nick Kyrgios has the second-best serve of all time

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Mouratoglou left some notable names off his top five servers of all time.

Players such as Andy Roddick and Boris Becker missed out, while Ivo Karlovic and Nick Kyrgios made the list.

The Frenchman, who coached Serena Williams for a decade between 2012 and 2022, spoke about his decision to include Kyrgios.

He said: “I stated in 2022 that Nick Kyrgios was the best server on tour and I can confirm that.

“Being able to serve with that pace, that accuracy and that consistency, being only 1.93 metres, is quite unique.”

Only American John Isner beat Kyrgios on Mouratoglou’s list. Ivo Karlovic landed at number three, while Pete Sampras and Goran Ivanisevic rounded out the top five.

Nick Kyrgios’ fastest serve on the ATP Tour

Nick Kyrgios’ fastest-ever serve on the ATP Tour came almost six years ago when he was competing at the 2019 Wimbledon Championships.

Playing against rival Rafael Nadal, the Australian eventually lost to the Spaniard 3-6 6-3 6-7 6-7.

However, the defeat did not stop Kyrgios from stunning the crowd with a remarkable shot.

Kyrgios produced a stunning 143mph serve, which to this day remains his fastest-ever serve.

The shot was made even more incredible by the fact that it was on his second serve – the fastest second serve in Wimbledon history.
