Boris Becker highlights Jannik Sinner’s greatest strength after he wins his first Wimbledon title

Boris Becker watched Jannik Sinner join him in the club of Wimbledon champions this past Sunday.

The Italian ended a run of five successive defeats to rival Carlos Alcaraz by beating him in four sets to lift the prestigious gold trophy.

Sinner is now a four-time Grand Slam champion and he has extended his lead at the top of the ATP rankings following his latest victory.

He came from a set down to clinch victory and Boris Becker is very impressed with what the 23-year-old has produced over the past few months.

Boris Becker praises Jannik Sinner’s mental strength after he wins Wimbledon

2025 has been a turbulent year for world number one Jannik Sinner.

He began the season by successfully defending the Australian Open title. This came before Sinner was banned from tennis three months after twice testing positive for clostebol in 2024.

Upon his return, Sinner lost to Alcaraz at the Italian Open final in addition to a crushing defeat to the Spaniard at Roland Garros, where he held championship points.

Sinner exacted revenge to defeat Alcaraz at Wimbledon a month later and the mental strength it takes to achieve such a feat has been praised by Becker, a three-time champion at the All-England Club.

“Jannik’s greatest opponent is himself, his reflection in the mirror. In a way, his great strength is mental,” Becker said. “He came back from his suspension by reaching the final in Rome and Paris, and now at Wimbledon.

“Very few could have come back like that after a three-month suspension. He also went to Halle and, match after match, continued to build his form and confidence.

“Jannik has always been very focused; his personality is unique. However, when it comes to consistency, Jannik has been unbeatable right now.”

Jannik Sinner only behind Rafael Nadal in Grand Slam list after winning Wimbledon

Sinner won his first Grand Slam title away from hard courts by winning Wimbledon on Sunday.

Sinner has now won 81 of his first 100 Grand Slam matches, which puts him second on the all-time list.

Rafael Nadal, a winner of 22 majors, leads the way with 86 victories from his first 100 matches at the highest level.

Following Sinner’s Wimbledon victory, Nadal, a two-time winner at SW19, took to social media to congratulate him and also send an encouraging message to Alcaraz.

“Congratulations @janniksin on your first @Wimbledon! Special moments!,” he wrote. “I know it won’t be an easy day, but, congratulations @carlosalcaraz on another Grand Slam final and for the great season you’re having!”
