Anyone who manages a bar in Melbourne might be well advised to start calling in more staff for tonight, and potentially for the next day or so too.
I asked Barmy Army general manager Chris Millard earlier this week what would happen if England won, and his response is now sounding prophetic.
“Melbourne will be very affluent if England win,” Millard said.
“The bars and the restaurants will be very happy.“
While Cricket Australia may be broke after a two-day Test, I guess it may give the hospitality sector a late Christmas present if England keep knocking off the runs.
