Defending men’s singles champion Jannik Sinner is scheduled to speak to media at 1.30pm this afternoon. He’s already made a couple of appearances at Melbourne Park this year – including a charity match against Alexei Popyrin and at yesterday’s main draw with fellow defending champion Aryna Sabalenka.

But Sinner has arrived in Australia for his title defence with his future under a murky cloud after the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) appealed a decision to ban him for one month for twice testing positive for an anabolic steroid last March.
ATP chairman Andrea Gaudenzi has vehemently rejected claims Sinner has received favourable treatment and is confident the sport will “survive” if the world No.1 ultimately cops a lengthy doping ban.
The International Tennis Integrity Agency ruled Sinner was not at fault. But with WADA appealing, Sinner could still serve a suspension of up to two years if found guilty.
Expect the world No.1 to face questions about this later on.
