Cameron Norrie sends message to Frances Tiafoe on social media after knocking him out of Wimbledon

Cameron Norrie produced one of his best performances of the year to reach the third round of Wimbledon.

The 29-year-old has struggled this season, but the thrill of competing on home soil at a Grand Slam has rejuvenated the world number 61.

After beating Roberto Bautista Agut, who also experienced a return to form, Norrie faced American number two Frances Tiafoe on Court One.

Cameron Norrie enjoys playing in that arena and he illustrated why as he came from behind to complete a 4-6, 6-4, 6-3, 7-5 win.

‘An honor to compete’ – Cameron Norrie’s message to Francis Tiafoe

Following his victory, Norrie became just the sixth British man in the Open Era to reach the third round of Wimbledon on four occasions.

The 2022 semi-finalist at the SW19 joins two-time champion Andy Murray, Tim Henman, Mark Cox, Greg Rusedski and Chris Wilkinson on that list.

Norrie is now the last remaining British player in the draw following Jack Draper’s four-set defeat to Marin Cilic.

The former ATP top 10 player was delighted to keep his Wimbledon run going and he took to Instagram to share his excitement with fans.

“Such fun out there yesterday – loved the energy!,” Norrie posted alongside a series of photos from his contest with Tiafoe.

“An honor to compete with @bigfoe1998 on the big stage. On we go, see you guys out there on court 1 again.”

Who is Cam Norrie’s next opponent?

Norrie will compete for a spot in the Wimbledon round of 16 against Mattia Bellucci.

The Italian has already beaten a British player at the All-England Club when he overcame Oliver Crawford in round one.

He then stunned Queen’s runner-up Jiri Lehecka in the second round, and he will prepare to meet Norrie for the second time and a first time on grass.

They first played one another at the Monte Carlo Masters in April, which Bellucci claimed in three sets.

Now on the grass at Wimbledon with Norrie on home soil and in good form, this is a different challenge altogether for Bellucci, but one he will embrace and will try his best to overcome.
