Carlos Alcaraz responds to Jannik Sinner’s latest question on social media after their Wimbledon final

Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner have exchanged words on social media, the day after their hard-fought Wimbledon final.

Two unbelievable competitors, they once again played out an outstanding final, albeit not quite at the level of last month’s phenomenal French Open showdown.

Admittedly, nothing will ever come close to the drama of that afternoon of tennis.

Alas, they tried their best on a Centre Court bathed in glorious sunshine, with Jannik Sinner standing out, and coming from a set down to win in four, 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4.

He deserved the title, and Carlos Alcaraz would say as much both in his on-court interview and now on social media.

Carlos Alcaraz sends message to Jannik Sinner after Wimbledon final

His message of congratulations came in response to Sinner’s Instagram post just this morning, where he posted a simple question: “Am I still dreaming?”

Given these two share an incredible amount of respect for one another, and potentially even a friendship that goes beyond their rivalry, the 22-year-old wanted to remind him of just what he had accomplished.

He took to the comments section, where he wrote: “Well deserved Jannik. Enjoy this moment. More to come.”

For a rival to predict such success in the future, at an event where he had previously reigned supreme, speaks volumes for the grace of Alcaraz in defeat.

Sinner told the media what it was like having Alcaraz as a rival after the match last night, and was equally as complimentary.

Carlos Alcaraz was very humble in defeat

After such a frustrating loss, where his anger boiled over into a mid-match rant aimed at his box, there were eyebrows raised as he drew closer to defeat.

Especially given we had never really seen how the Spaniard reacted to losing in a match of such magnitude, having previously boasted a 100% win rate in Grand Slam finals before yesterday’s Wimbledon showdown.

In the Olympics, his loss to Novak Djokovic drew tears, as he struggled to contain his emotions whilst speaking to the media.

But this time, he was so calm, measured, and supremely respectful.

After all, he’s a two-time champion at this tournament, and now knows the incredible highs of winning and the crushing lows that a loss can bring.

This will only make him a better player in the long run, and has only emphasised his humility on the biggest stage.
