Carlton vs North Melbourne LIVE: Voss lets his players have it as Roos embarrass the Blues at the MCG

Carlton coach Michael Voss faces a massive fight to save his job after North Melbourne caused a massive upset to leave the Blues’ season on the brink of no return. The rising Kangaroos dismantled Carlton in the first three quarters and had plenty in reserve to absorb a belated lift from the Blues in the final term to win by 11 points. That they were scoreless in the final term did not matter. The fallout from this result threatens to be significant for the Blues, whose coach Voss is now under the pump in his fourth season with the season hanging by a thread.

It marked a 93-point turnaround from the Good Friday blitz when they were embarrassed on a marquee event for the club. This was a day to savour for long-suffering North fans, who had winners all over the park. Colby McKercher, Harry Sheezel, Tom Powell and Luke Parker all starred in a midfield that, for three quarters, eclipsed the Blues’ once-vaunted on-ball brigade. The Blues kicked the last five goals of the game to tease their supporters, but the fightback served only to highlight how poor they were when the game was alive. The margin flattered the Blues, who have been beaten by teams ranked 16th and 17th at the start of the round.
