Darcie Brown ruled out of WBBL with a back injury
But she returned home with a disc issue that ruled her out of selection for Australia’s ODIs against Bangladesh and T20Is against New Zealand.

National selector Shawn Flegler said late last month that Australia’s medical staff were hopeful that she could be back for the second half of the WBBL. But CA released a statement on Monday confirming she had been ruled out of the entire tournament.

“Brown was assessed following her return home from India last month, and following a period of de-loading, her injury has not yet recovered to a point where she is ready to resume training,” the statement said. “As a result, and she will be unable to return to full fitness in time for the upcoming WBBL season.”

Flegler added last month that even if the injury kept her out of the WBBL, she would be in contention for the Champions Trophy in the new year. Brown was not selected for T20 World Cup mid-year for tactical reasons with Australia’s heirarchy believing pace was not going to be needed in England.
