Daria Kasatkina will play a grand slam at Melbourne Park for the first time since switching allegiance from Russia to Australia and taking a break from tennis. Kasatkina became a permanent Australian resident in March, driven from Russia largely by the criminalisation, censorship and violence faced by the LGBTQ+ community. She now has citizenship, and her new passport was – as of Saturday – waiting for her at the post office. In an exclusive interview with Guardian Australia’s Jack Snape, she explains she is still getting used to the peculiarities of Australian life
