According to reports, Alexander Isak is âfuriousâ as he has been âtoldâ by Newcastle United that he will ânotâ join Liverpool in this summerâs window.
Isakâs situation has turned into the biggest transfer saga of this summerâs window as the world-class striker has pushed for a move to Liverpool.
It has been widely reported that Isak is Liverpoolâs dream target after he scored 27 goals in 42 appearances last season and they remain interested in the Newcastle standout even after landing Hugo Ekitike for around ÂŖ80m.
Liverpool have already failed with a bid of around ÂŖ120m for Isak, who is reportedly valued at around ÂŖ150m and under contract until 2028.
It has been suggested that the Reds are prepared to return with an improved offer for Isak. On Thursday, Fabrizio Romano revealed:Â âLiverpool mantain their focus on Alexander Isak for the final weeks of the summer window.
âNew proposal, ready to be submitted if Newcastle open doors to the move. Isak maintains his position; he doesnât want to play or stay at Newcastle, he wants to leave and join #LFC.â
Isak has returned to training after missing Newcastleâs pre-season tour, but Eddie Howe has made him work alone as bridges need to be repaired before he is reintegrated.
Speaking on Friday, Howe admitted:Â âWeâve had discussions and itâs clear at the moment that we canât involve him with the group.
âI donât know how long that will be for, but thatâs the latest.
âIâd want Alex to be playing today, Iâd want him training tomorrow. We would love the player to be with us. Let me make that absolutely clear. Thereâs no part of me that doesnât want that outcome, but I donât see the current situation changing for Aston Villa.â

And the latest update on Isak indicates that a return could be a while off. The Telegraphâs Luke Edwards is reporting that Isak is âfuriousâ after being âtoldâ by Newcastle that he is ânot leavingâ this summer as club chiefs have âput their foot downâ.
PIF are said to have adopted a âhigh-risk approachâ in a âshow of defianceâ, though this has âcaused acrimony and tension, with Isak refusing to accept the decision with good graceâ.
The report adds:
âUntil Isak is willing to get his head around the fact that he will be denied a move in this transfer window, he will not play for the club. It is a high-risk approach from Saudi Arabiaâs Public Investment Fund, which owns Newcastle, but its position, as revealed by Telegraph Sport last month, has always been the same.
âLiverpool were made aware of Newcastleâs refusal to consider a sale when they had a bid worth around ÂŖ110m rejected last week, hence their decision to back away from the transfer. Liverpool have indicated they will not bid again unless Newcastle change their position, which sources have reaffirmed to Telegraph Sport is extremely unlikely, even if they sign another striker.â
