Iga Swiatek romped to the Wimbledon title in July, dropping just two games in her final two matches.
The former world number one returned to her best when it mattered most on Saturday afternoon. After swatting aside Belinda Bencic 6-2 6-0 in the semi-final, Swiatek proceeded to ‘double-bagel’ American player Amanda Anisimova in the final.
Swiatek’s 6-0 6-0 win over Anisimova was the first time this feat has been achieved since Steffi Graf’s victory at the 1988 French Open.
The Pole, who won junior Wimbledon in 2018, is already emerging in conversations regarding the all-time greats, as she continues to challenge records set by the likes of Chris Evert and Martina Navratilova.

One notable coach has continued this trail of thought, comparing Swiatek to Serena Williams.
Rick Macci compares Iga Swiatek to Serena Williams
Rick Macci, who is heavily credited with the early development of Serena and Venus Williams, took to social media to compare Swiatek to one of his former players.
He said: “Iga now is in rare air with favorite nicest meanest little kid I ever taught Serena.
“Iga is the second youngest ever to win on all surfaces and the best female player in this era with Grand Slam number 6 and we will see how many double digits will be in the mix.”

Swiatek has a long way to go to reach the heights of Serena Williams. Serena is arguably the greatest women’s player of all time, as she won an Open Era record of 23 Grand Slam singles titles and four Olympic gold medals.
Serena is also the only player to achieve a Career Golden Slam in both singles and doubles.
However, Iga Swiatek has a unique opportunity to put herself in that conversation with Serena. Swiatek has won six Grand Slams by the age of 24, giving herself plenty of time to reel in the great Serena Williams.
