Lucknow Super Giants speedster Mayank Yadav has been ruled out of the Indian Premier League 2025 due to a back injury, and New Zealand’s William O’Rourke (3 crores) as a replacement. Mayank has featured in two games this season for the franchise, one against the Mumbai Indians and the other against the Punjab Kings. He picked up two wickets from those appearances.
And it is not the first time Mayank has been injured and had to get some treatment. He did not start the season for LSG due to a freak toe injury and has also not been part of the side for the majority of the 2024 campaign. He suffered a back injury, bringing his campaign to an end abruptly.

In addition to the IPL, Mayank has also missed the domestic season. However, the 22-year-old impressed with his speed did make his debut for India in the T20I series against Bangladesh in October 2024 after working on his fitness at the COE (Formerly known as NCA).

“I had a major injury because of which I was out of cricket for five to six months. The body will adapt and take its own time. I’ll have to give my body and my bowling some time to get those speeds back. There have been no changes in my bowling technique,” Mayank said on working on his fitness.
Kyle Jamison in for Lockie Ferguson
Meanwhile, elsewhere, Punjab Kings seamer Lockie Ferguson got injured during the game against the Sunrisers Hyderabad earlier in the season. Punjab has named his replacement in his fellow countryman, Kyle Jamison (2 crores), who has represented Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the past.
Kusal Mendis in for Jos Buttler
Gujarat Titans were heavily reliant on their top three, and Buttler’s absence will be a body blow to Shubman Gill’s side. Buttler has decided not to return for the remainder of the IPL, citing his national duties. The franchise has named Sri Lankan player Kusal Mendis (75 lakhs) as the replacement for Buttler.
