IPL 2025 Points Table After IPL Today Match Update: Gujarat Titans’ chances of finishing in the top two took a major dent on Thursday as they lost to the Lucknow Super Giants by 33 runs. Mitchell Marsh’s sensational maiden IPL century, along with a blistering half-century from Nicholas Pooran, helped LSG set a mammoth target of 236 form GT to chase. While GT’s high-power top order faltered, Shahrukh Khan and Sherfane Rutherford went berzerk and for a while, it looked like GT might actually chase the big total down. However, GT then lost wickets in a clump in the death overs and thus fell well short. While GT have already qualified for the playoffs, their chances of finishing in the top two has taken a serious blow with this defeat.
Marsh earlier smashed his way to his maiden IPL century in a stunning display of big-hitting from LSG. Marsh got to the mark in just 56 balls, his innings until that point punctuated by six sixes and 10 fours. He went on to be dismissed on 117 off 64 balls, adding two more sixes to his kitty after crossing the century mark. Marsh and Aiden Markram put up an opening stand of 91 runs, ensuring that LSG get 53 out of the powerplay. Markram was dismissed on 36 off 24 but the carnage then only went up a notch with Nicholas Pooran joining Marsh and hitting the ground running. The pair’s assault ensured that LSG took a whopping 127 runs in the middle overs. Marsh and Pooran put up 121 runs for the second wicket off just 52 balls, with the former hitting 66 runs in the stand off 29 balls.
