White made his international debut in July 2021 and was viewed as a long-term option to fill Ireland’s wristspin void. He took 36 wickets in 38 T20Is and was involved in Ireland squads at three T20 World Cups: 2021 (in the UAE), 2024 (in the USA) and 2026 (in Sri Lanka), though only played three games across those tournaments.
“After an incredible journey, I’m excited to share that I’m retiring from professional cricket and beginning a new chapter, having joined Personio as a Business Development Representative UKI,” White wrote on his LinkedIn page.
“Representing Ireland over the years, playing across all three formats, and competing at three ICC Cricket World Cups are experiences I’ll always look back on with immense pride.
“A huge thank you to Cricket Ireland for giving me the opportunity to represent my country and live out a childhood dream. I’m incredibly grateful for the memories, lessons and life-long friendships that cricket has given me, along with everyone who has been part of the journey.”
Gary Wilson, Ireland’s head coach, said in a press release: “While he played all formats, Ben will be fondly remembered for his T20 cricket the most. His ability to extract bounce and bowl at great pace made him a handful. Making three T20 World Cup squads is testament to the esteem he was held in, and he should be proud of what he achieved over his career.”
