Jannik Sinner is the undisputed world number one, but many would dispute whether he is actually the best player in the world.
It’s a really unique situation he finds himself in, so dominant against 99% of the opponents on the tour.
However, that 1% has proven to be consistently devastating time and time again, with Carlos Alcaraz winning their last five consecutive meetings.
The two are expected to meet again in this year’s Wimbledon final, but Jack Draper will certainly have plenty to say about that.
Jannik Sinner speaks glowingly about ‘best friend’ Jack Draper
And naturally, chatting with The Telegraph ahead of his return to Wimbledon, much of the focus was unsurprisingly around the British number one.
However, the question was put to Jannik Sinner not because of this title, but also because of how their relationship seems from the outside.
The Italian sought to confirm their friendship, noting: ‘You’re lucky to have a player like him. After Andy [Murray], they need someone big. He [Draper] is someone big, and he’s someone who is going to stay there for a very, very long time.
‘One of the best friends I have on the tour. We are quite similar in the way we make a lot of sacrifices to be the best we can.
‘He came also, when I was banned. He came to Monaco to practise there and everything was great. But now things are … are a bit different, because, you know, he’s No 4 in the world.’
Jannik Sinner heads to Wimbledon after coaching shakeup
Stability is key for tennis players, especially heading into a Grand Slam.
That is why, Sinner’s decision to part ways with two of his coaches, right on the eve of Wimbledon, has shocked many.
A player usually so famed for his consistency and reliability, making such a bold move with such odd timing has led a few to question his chances to truly challenge for this Wimbledon title.

However, he boasts an unrivalled mindset. After all, he has hardly been undeterred since Darren Cahill, his main coach, outlined his plans to depart his team.
Sinner is a machine, ruthless and relentless.
And whilst emotions are just part of the sport, he is not expected to be too shaken up by a brief changeover in his coaching staff.
