Holger Rune has confirmed that, for a brief period, he has been gaining invaluable experience working alongside Andre Agassi.
The legendary American, who claimed eight Grand Slam titles across his illustrious career, has been rather selective with his appearances within tennis since his retirement in 2006.
He has coached on occasion, most notably with Novak Djokovic, and more recently made a brief foray into the media too.
Alas, he is used sparingly in the latter, despite his insight almost always being welcomed by tennis fans.
And now, it seems that tennis players are keen to get hold of that information too, with Rune the latest to work under Andre Agassi’s watchful eye.
Holger Rune says what he’s been working on with Andre Agassi
Speaking just last week, he even revealed what he and the 55-year-old had been working on ahead of the Washington Open.
Touching on Agassi, the Danish star stated: “Obviously, he had an amazing return himself, and I also return well. He had a few tips there and how I can be slightly better there and then in general about the game,” he said.

“It was a really short period, but definitely he gave me an insight of where he sees me in the future, where he sees me now, and obviously there’s a lot of things to improve. He helped me to get my focus and my eyes on the right things, together with my coach Lars [Christensen]. It was really cool to spend some days with him.”
Hopefully, this brief union can prove to be the spark needed to reignite a stuttering career, which is yet to reach the heights that were once expected of the 21-year-old.
After all, it was only last month that Rune was blasted for an immature moment before Wimbledon.
John McEnroe rated Holger Rune’s game in 2024
It’s quite ironic that Rune referenced his return as an area of interest that Agassi took, as it’s actually what John McEnroe branded his weakest around this time last year.
Speaking on the BBC’s coverage of Wimbledon, he was commentating over Novak Djokovic’s eventual win over the youngster.
It was a routine, straight-sets victory for the Serbian, who stormed into the quarter-finals with ease.

Rune was left deflated, with McEnroe’s comments likely not helping matters.
The American had claimed: “Well, it’s arguably the weakest part of Rune’s game at this point in his career, Rune’s return. He’s going to have to break to get back in this at least once. He looks bewildered out there. What do I do? What can I do?”
Rune’s confidence seems to be much higher this time, naming his return as one of his strongest assets.
However, with Agassi also choosing to work on it and offer some tips, perhaps McEnroe was right all along.
