Carlos Alcaraz will enter the grass court season as he did in 2024, the reigning French Open champion.
The 22-year-old’s title defence in Paris was hanging by a thread when he was one point away from losing the final to Jannik Sinner.
But Alcaraz dug deep and completed a remarkable turnaround to defeat the World number one 4-6, 6-7, 6-4, 7-6, 7-6 and retain his title in dramatic fashion.
Following an exhausting five-hour and 29-minute encounter, Alcaraz’s team is mindful of his recovery ahead of the grass court season, which has put his participation at the Queen’s Club Championships in doubt.

Juan Carlos Ferrero says whether Carlos Alcaraz will play at Queen’s in 2025
Carlos Alcaraz has commenced his grass court campaign at Queen’s since 2023, the year he won the title there.
After both of his previous appearances at the tournament, he went on to lift the Wimbledon title just weeks later.
The Spaniard previously committed to the event, but his coach Juan Carlos Ferrero said they are monitoring Alcaraz’s recovery from French Open exploits before making a decision regarding his participation at Queen’s.
“The plan is to play him, but we’ll make a final decision in a few days,” the 2003 French Open winner said.
“After these days off, on Thursday or Friday, we’ll do a test to see how he’s feeling physically and mentally.”

Carlos Alcaraz will aim for second Queen’s title if he competes
Alcaraz was due to make his Queen’s debut in 2022, but he withdrew from the event due to injury.
The World number two made his debut the following year and almost lost his opening match.
Alcaraz came from a set down to defeat France’s Arthur Rinderknech. He proceeded to win each match following that contest in straight sets and won the title.
The 2024 edition of Queen’s was not so successful for Alcaraz. He won his opening match against Francisco Cerundolo, before squaring off against Jack Draper.
With the British crowd on his side, Draper secured a 7-6, 6-3 victory to hand Alcaraz his first career defeat at Queen’s.
If deemed fit enough to play, Alcaraz will be determined to return to winning ways at Queen’s in 2025 and build some momentum ahead of his Wimbledon title defence.
