Prasidh bowled just five overs in the Guwahati ODI, conceding 45 runs and picking up the wicket of Keacy Carty in the fifth over. He left the field in the 31st over of the innings. It is understood that he has already returned to Bengaluru, his hometown, and could be a doubt for the opening round of the Ranji Trophy, which begins on October 11.
Kamboj, who picked up three wickets in the first India A vs Australia A four-dayer, had picked up three wickets in Australia A’s first innings in the second game, but left the squad after bowling just two overs in Australia A’s second dig.
He has never played an ODI, but has an impressive average of 22.41 from 35 List A matches, in which he has picked up 56 wickets. Kamboj made his Test debut – his only appearance for India – on the tour of England last year.
India have been splitting their top-rung players across teams because of the crammed calendar – Jasprit Bumrah, for example, is in Japan for the Asian Games – and the squad for the ODIs against West Indies now has, apart from Kamboj, Mohammed Siraj, Auqib Nabi and Gurnoor Brar.
Dhir replaces Washington in T20I squad
“The decision has been taken in view of the upcoming Test series against New Zealand,” a BCCI release said. “With the Ranji Trophy season commencing on October 11, Washington will get an opportunity to play red-ball cricket for his state team and prepare for the Test series.”
This is Dhir’s maiden T20I call-up after he made his ODI debut in the ongoing series against West Indies. He did not get to bat in both games, and went wicketless with India taking a 2-0 lead in the three-match series.
Washington, who is part of India’s Asian Games squad, could play in Tamil Nadu’s 2026-27 Ranji Trophy opener against Rajasthan, if picked.
India will play five T20Is, five ODIs and two Tests on their tour to New Zealand, which begins on October 22.
