Katie Boulter handed more good news after winning first clay tournament as Roland Garros draw is made

Katie Boulter, amongst many other Brits in the French Open draw, has learnt her fate for the opening round of this elite event.

The second Grand Slam of the season, there is more than enough talent within the British ranks for someone to enjoy a deep run in the French capital.

And whilst many might point to Jack Draper as the shining light, understandably so, Boulter will be hoping to prove many wrong by re-establishing herself as a force on the WTA.

She has arguably had the perfect preparation, winning in Paris at a 125-level event to gain form, fitness and key additional minutes on the clay ahead of Roland Garros.

Luckily for her, the draw has been kind.

Others were not so lucky, with Emma Raducanu handed a nightmare Roland Garros draw which will see her face an elite-level opponent in just the second round, should she get there.

Boulter, meanwhile, will look upon her draw with favour.

After all, whilst she does have some top players around her, the 28-year-old has been gifted a qualifier in the opening round.

If she is to beat whoever takes that spot, Madison Keys represents a far tougher task, however the American has historically struggled on the Parisian clay. She has lost in the third and second rounds in respective years here, and has had a topsy-turvy clay-court season leading up to the French Open.

Beyond that, her little corner of the draw looks otherwise favourable, with only Beatriz Haddad Maia, Sofia Kenin and Emma Navarro as the other seeded players she might have to face.

Also, as noted before, Boulter won her first clay court title earlier this month. That alone should give her confidence.

Who will all the British players play in their French Open first-round matches?

As noted earlier, Raducanu has been handed a really nasty opening draw at Roland Garros. But she is not alone as a Brit who will feel hard done by.

After all, whilst Jack Draper has been handed a nice start against Mattia Bellucci, Jacob Fearnley and Cam Norrie will both have to beat Grand Slam champions just to get into the second round.

The former will face Stan Wawrinka on the grounds of one of his greatest triumphs, whilst Norrie will have to overcome an out-of-sorts but equally dangerous Daniil Medvedev.

Elsewhere, Jodie Burrage will face Danielle Collins, whilst Sonay Kartal has Erika Andreeva.
