KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 14 — Motorists and commuters in the city are advised to plan their journeys carefully for Oct 4 and 5, as numerous major roads will be closed to facilitate the Kuala Lumpur Standard Chartered Marathon (KLSCM) 2025 event on both days.
The road closures are scheduled on both days to ensure the safety of runners participating in the various race categories.
Saturday, Oct 4: Pantai KL 10km & 5km
On Saturday, Oct 4, road closures will be in effect to accommodate the 10km and 5km races. A total of 13 roads will be closed to traffic from 5:00 am to 10:00 am.
Key roads affected during this period include Jalan Raja Laut, Jalan Sultan Ismail, Jalan Raja Abdullah, Jalan Parlimen, and Jalan Mahameru.
Sunday, Oct 5: Full Marathon & ASICS Half Marathon
The most extensive closures will occur on Sunday, Oct 5, for the full and half marathon events. A total of 29 key roads and sections of highways will be affected.
While most closures will begin in the early hours of Sunday morning (around 3:00 am), several major roads will be closed from the night before. These include:
- Jalan Raja Laut: Closing at 10:00 pm on Friday, Oct 3.
- Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman (Jalan TAR): Closing at 11:00 pm on Saturday, Oct 4.
- AKLEH and DUKE Highways: Closing at 11:00 pm on Saturday, Oct4.
Other key arteries affected on Sunday morning include Jalan Bukit Bintang, Jalan Imbi, Jalan Sultan Ismail, Jalan Ampang, Jalan Kuching, and Jalan Mahameru.
Reopening times are staggered, beginning as early as 6:30 am for some stretches, with major roads like Jalan Bukit Bintang reopening by 9:30 am and others remaining closed until 11:00 am.
Advice for road users
Members of the public are strongly advised to plan their travel in advance and use public transportation such as the LRT and MRT to navigate the city centre during the race weekend.
Motorists are encouraged to use navigation apps like Waze and Google Maps, which will likely have real-time traffic updates, and to follow the instructions of traffic police on duty.
