Cam Norrie enjoyed strong preparation heading into the French Open, but was dealt an instant blow when the draw came out.
After all, of all the players he could have faced, he was poised to clash with former Grand Slam champion Daniil Medvedev.
Although he is not a master of clay, he still has the qualities needed to cause any player in the world problems.
Meanwhile, Norrie has a style that, whilst effective at times, can draw scrutiny. It seems that once again this notion is being reinforced.
Laura Robson on what she’s hearing about Cam Norrie
Laura Robson, however, feared for the Brit, telling TNT Sports what she’s been hearing from other players on tour.
She stated: ’What I find interesting when I talk to other players about Cam Norrie is that they feel that maybe they have figured out his game.
‘He does have such a difference between his forehand and backhand. He doesn’t vary so much from plan A. So when that happens how do you adjust off the back of that, when you feel other people have figured you out?’

Tracy Austin then chimed in, claiming: ‘He still has to go with his strength. That lefty serve and big forehand. He still has to dictate the middle of the court with that big forehand and use the backhand. He has to stay with his game. I don’t know how you can change a game like that, he is so set in his ways.’
