Cam Norrie secured one of his biggest wins of the season at Wimbledon.

In the second round he took on world number 12 Frances Tiafoe, who was the favourite going into the contest.

The American was proving this to be true when he claimed the opening set against Cam Norrie but his opponent came back strongly.

The 29-year-old turned the tables and came back to complete a four-set victory and advance to the third round at the All-England Club.

Nick Kyrgios thinks Cam Norrie can beat anyone other than Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner at Wimbledon

Norrie was very impressive against Tiafoe and his performance caught the eye of Nick Kyrgios.

The 2022 Wimbledon runner-up is analysing the grass court Grand Slam for talkSPORT this season and he watched Norrie’s 6-4, 4-6, 3-6, 5-7 win over Tiafoe, the American number three.

Nick Kyrgios was so pleased with what he saw from Norrie that he thinks the former semi-finalist at SW19 is capable of beating anyone other than defending champion Carlos Alcaraz and world number one Jannik Sinner at Wimbledon.

“One guy that really impressed me, I sat down and watched the last two sets was Cameron Norrie, taking it to [Frances] Tiafoe, the 12th seed, he played well,” Kyrgios said.

“Someone that’s made the semi-finals here before, Norrie is going to fly under the radar and he’s got a genuine chance to stir something up.

“He’s just very experienced at Grand Slams. I think apart from Alcaraz or Sinner he can go up against anyone and upset them. I think when you get to that business end of the tournament, he could for sure.”

Cam Norrie comments on the Wimbledon crowd after beating Frances Tiafoe

Norrie was delighted after reaching the third round at Wimbledon for the second successive year.

While Jack Draper has received plenty of attention as he goes in search of a first Wimbledon title, Norrie has somewhat slipped under the radar.

He defeated Draper at the All-England Club in the second round at Wimbledon a year ago, and in 2025 he defeated Tiafoe to reach round three and he fed off the energy from the Court 1 crowd, an arena he loves to play in.

“I was really happy when I saw the schedule,” he said in his on-court interview. “I saw I was on Court One and that’s my favourite court. It’s an amazing atmosphere and we both played [at] a really high level.

“I just stayed calm and played point-by-point. It was so nice to play Frances at such a big match. I served really well in that last game and you guys [the fans] were amazing in that last game, so thank you.

“It’s so special. You forget so quickly. You just feel goosebumps. It’s such a special court and such a special tournament.

“I just walked out and smiled as much as I could. And then you have to go out to battle. I’m really happy with my level today. It’s so special. My parents are here, my sister is watching as well, and my girlfriend as well.”
