Nick Kyrgios has now given his verdict on who will have the better career out of Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner.
The pair are undoubtedly the two best male players on the planet at the moment, having shared the last six Grand Slam titles with one another.
However, given how cyclical tennis is, it’s expected that eventually someone will emerge to disrupt their duopoly.
Nick Kyrgios, speaking about the pair, was actually asked about what the future holds for them.
Nick Kyrgios rates Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner’s potential
Welcomed on to talkSPORT, they covered everything from his controversial behaviour in the past to the current stars who have taken his place.
And, asked about Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner in particular, Kyrgios pitted the two against one another as he rated their potential.
He stated: ‘This is a tough question. No, I think they’re both incredible players and they’re both different. Personalities are wildly different, you know.
‘Carlos Alcaraz, he loves to get amongst it, loves to party a little bit, and he’s an incredible personality. Where Sinner likes to keep his head down a little bit more and I think he’s going to stay on the straight and narrow, a little bit more than Carlos.
‘But right now, I mean, Carlos continues to win the bigger matches against Sinner, you know, that French Open comeback was probably one of the greatest Grand Slam finals we’ve ever seen. You know, Sinner had three match points, unable to put him away, and that just shows the spirit of the Alcaraz going back and winning that.
‘But I would probably put my money on Alcaraz having a better career, but I think Sinner could get in the later stages, when they both turn 30, could probably, you know, finish strong.’
Elsewhere, Kyrgios rated the state of British tennis too.
Carlos Alcaraz vs Jannik Sinner: titles compared
Despite Sinner being a year Alcaraz’s senior, it’s actually the Spaniard who boasts more career titles and Grand Slam titles than the Italian.
However, had the 23-year-old won that French Open title earlier this month, which he was just one point away from, they would have been tied on four majors apiece.
Alas, it was not to be, and Alcaraz has instead extended his lead and his legacy.
In 2025, Sinner has just a sole title, which came in Melbourne. However, he was banned from the sport for three months, which allowed Alcaraz to sweep up throughout the clay-court season.
| Carlos Alcaraz | Jannik Sinner | |
| Grand Slam | 5 | 3 |
| Masters 1000 | 7 | 4 |
| ATP 500 | 7 | 5 |
| ATP 250 | 2 | 6 |
| ATP Finals | 0 | 1 |
He has snagged five titles, and that has clearly proven the difference between the two now in terms of their respective tallies.
With over a decade left of both of their careers, Alcaraz and Sinner are destined to win many, many more honours and potentially retire with legacies to rival Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer that came before them.
