Dan Evans graced Wimbledon’s Centre Court once again when he took on Novak Djokovic.
The 35-year-old competed on the grass court Grand Slam’s main showcourt in 2023, losing in the first round.
In 2025, the former British number one reached the Wimbledon second round valiantly, but ultimately Evans succumbed to a 6-3, 6-2, 6-0 defeat against Djokovic.
Evans acknowledged the crowd as he left the court and the 2022 Wimbledon runner-up Nick Kyrgios thinks this was a sign for his future.

Nick Kyrgios thinks Dan Evans has come to the ‘end of his career’ after Wimbledon defeat
The first set between Evans and Djokovic at Wimbledon was competitive, with the Serbian creating numerous opportunities to break Evans’ serve, but the 35-year-old kept his opponent at bay.
That was until the eighth game of the opening set when Djokovic finally broke serve to lead 5-3, before successfully closing out the set.
Novak Djokovic lost just two more games for the rest of the match as he closed out victory in one hour and 47 minutes to reach the third round.
After witnessing that match and taking into account where Evans is now at in his career, Kyrgios thinks the Briton will soon hang up his racket.
“I think Dan Evans is definitely at the end of his career. Physically he can’t stay healthy,” Kyrgios told talkSPORT. “Reaching top 30 in the world after serving a bit of a ban and then coming back and playing some of his best tennis.
“I think him getting emotional was the best thing for him and his fans, he always had question marks, whether he loved the sport, did he really want to do well. Him showing emotion in that press conference answered all of those questions for me, he said he was sick of letting people down.
“But going out against [Novak] Djokovic, that’s never easy, we’re talking about one of the best to ever play on that court. Honestly, Dan Evans has beaten him before, it’s not a bad thing that you go out against Djokovic.”

Dan Evans has said the opposite to Nick Kyrgios and aims to play at Wimbledon again
Djokovic reached the Wimbledon third round by defeating Evans for the first time.
Once he wrapped up the first set, he looked very comfortable and as he grew in confidence, the more dangerous he became on court.
In the end, Evans had no answer for Djokovic’s brilliance, but he gave his all and it was appreciated by his home crowd.
Though Kyrgios thinks Evans is at the end of his career, BBC Sport presenter Claire Balding told viewers that Evans does not have any plans to retire just yet.
“I spoke to Dan later on to confirm that this is not his farewell to Wimbledon, which it is not,” Balding said. “But he said facing Novak was just awesome. He said that he could beat anybody.”
