When asked on Fox Footy his thoughts on the AFL’s wildcard round, Scott couldn’t resist taking a shot at the AFL.
“This is why I shouldn’t do this so close to the game, I speak my mind, which is good for you and bad for me generally,” he said.
“I tend to think they just made it up. Just to throw in a couple more finals for no good reason except cash probably.”
Scott joked his media manager was probably sweating as he finished the interview.
In a separate media conference, Scott reflected on Geelong’s one-point defeat and said his team “wasn’t executing the way we can”, but noted the pressure from both sides was strong.
“It must have been good being neutral supporter, it was obviously tense for [our supporters] and people involved in both teams,” he said when asked about the final two minutes of the game.
He said both teams had plenty of chances and joked “I’m not sure whose lack of composure late was worse”.
Scott confirmed forward Jeremy Cameron had taken a hit to his arm but was okay.
Ultimately, Scott said it was a match which he “did not think we hit our straps”.
“In the end I didn’t think we played well all game,” he said.
“I’m never happy to lose. But I thought they probably had their chances to win it late and we almost stole it.
“In the end, with the score the way it was, it sort of looked like it was the other way around.”
Geelong face West Coast at Norwood Oval on Sunday as part of the AFL’s Gather Round in South Australia.
