Sachin Tendulkar is rightfully regarded as the best batter of all time with his career filled with milestones which most players still struggle to replicate. One of the biggest record in his kitty is his 100 centuries, something that still isnât broken to this day. Virat Kohli has gotten close with 82 centuries but he still has quite a bit to go to break this huge record.
Tendulkar had scored his 100th international century on March 16, 2012, 13 years ago on this very day in a match against Bangladesh in the Asia Cup. However, the century was in vain as the team ultimately lost to Bangladesh.

The historic journey to his 100th international century that day took longer than expected, as he was stranded from the unprecedented mark for just over a year.

âI canât think of anything at this stage, it has been a tough phase for me,â Tendulkar had told Neo Cricket channel after his innings. âI started off the season well but was luckless. It does not matter how many hundreds you score, you still have to grind it out.â
The best batsman of the modern era had scored his last century (111) against South Africa at Nagpur during the World Cup on March 12, 2011.
The World Cup final at Mumbai and tours of England and Australia all had provided him opportunities of getting to the mark at some of the most celebrated venues but Tendulkar came up short each time.
