Amid talks of his potential retirement from international cricket, India opener Rohit Sharma has surged to the top of the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) ODI batting rankings during the latest update announced on Wednesday.
The 38-year-old Rohit is one of the oldest batters ever to achieve the top spot in the ICC rankings and is claiming the landmark for the first time in his career.

Rohit made a solid return to ODI cricket after seven months as he topped the batting charts in the recent three-match series in Australia, scoring 202 runs in three innings. He powered India to a nine-wicket in the third ODI in Sydney, recording his 33th ODI and 50th international century.
