The way Australia’s tail batted this morning is an indication this pitch is close to perfect for batting.
Six of Australia’s top seven did more to get themselves out than the bowler, and the hosts still managed 371.

It looks good on paper but given the batting-friendly pitch, the heat, the lack of depth in England’s attack, Australia blew a golden opportunity after winning the toss to break their rival.
If they had played with more smarts and discipline, Australia should still be batting now.
Unless the Bazballers implode again, which cannot be ruled out, Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Scott Boland and Nathan Lyon need to be at their best today to make a serious dent into England.
England have survived the first over. They are 0-1 with Cummins about to bowl.
