Tim Henman thinks the question that people are asking about Carlos Alcaraz’s future is completely ‘mad’

Tim Henman has once again handed glowing eulogies to Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner for what they have already accomplished within the sport.

It is not a new opinion to praise this duo, who have already taken over men’s tennis with their youthful talent.

However, what people have started to say about the Spaniard was of particular interest to the former Wimbledon semi-finalist, with Henman branding it ‘mad’.

But, what they are doing is mad, having taken the mantle from the previous Big Three seamlessly, missing out an entire generation of players who thought it might have been their time to shine.

Alas, a new two-man dynasty has appeared.

Tim Henman left stunned by Carlos Alcaraz’s career so far

Speaking to Sky Sports, Henman could not have been more glowing in his praise for Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz, and how they have already changed the sport.

Focusing on the latter as he continued his speech, the pundit admitted: “What they’ve done in such a short period of time is absolutely incredible. And I think there was understandable concerns about who the next generation was going to be in the men’s because of what Federer, Nadal and Djokovic had done.

“You know, they won 66 grand slams between them and I think at times, they’ve almost raised the bar unfairly high.

“However, you know, Alcaraz has now won five and Sinner’s won four, is it? And, you know, in the grand scheme of the great champions of our sports, you look at, you know, Edberg and Becker and McEnroe and Connors and Agassi. They won six, seven, and 8, and they are absolute legends of the sport.

“And all of a sudden, we’re saying, we’re asking the question, ‘Well, is Alcaraz gonna get to 15? Or 20?’ I mean, it’s mad, but, you know, they are phenomenal players.

“I think they benefit from each other because that rivalry will continue to motivate them and push each other to keep improving their games.

“And it’s other players’ jobs to try and get into that conversation, and I think Jack Draper is definitely one of those.”

Carlos Alcaraz could end the year as the world number one

It might seem strange, given how far behind Sinner he is, but Alcaraz could theoretically end 2025 as the year-end world number one.

However, it would take a dramatic swing.

Currently, after Wimbledon, the Spaniard sits on 8,600 points, way behind his rival on 12,030.

Crucially, though, heading into this US hard-court portion of the season, the world number two has only a handful of points to defend given how he struggled at this stage last year.

Early exits from Cincinnati and the US Open, whilst opting out of playing in Canada, mean he has just 60 points to defend between now and the next Grand Slam. Meanwhile, Sinner has a mighty 3,200.

That being said, Alcaraz has been told what he must figure out before the US Open to stand a chance of success.

Also, Alcaraz is currently leading the ATP Race to Turin, which is often a good indicator of who might finish the year as the world number one.
