Tom Lynch AFL tribunal LIVE: Tiger to learn suspension fate for punching Jordon Butts

Tom Lynch is now giving his evidence, quizzed by Sam Tovey.

Q: Do you accept that you made forceful contact with player Butts?

“Yes I accept that.”

Q: What happened immediately before the incident?

“I was attempted a marking contest … I felt that Butts was holding onto me … We won the ball. I wanted to get him off me as quick as possible.

“I swung my arm around to get him off me.

“ I made to the neck and to the back of his shoulders.”

Was it the wrong thing to do?

“Absolutely. I got it wrong, and it was the wrong thing to do.

“I was trying to make contact to his back, to get separation off him. His upper back.”

Why did you get him high?

“I got him high. I misjudged it.”

Lynch accepts that his action was a “swinging motion”

Was it a clenched fist?

“Absolutely not.” (Lynch shows the tribunal more than once how his hand was positioned at the time of impact.
