Who Emma Raducanu picked as the greatest tennis player of all-time when asked last year

The greatest tennis player of all time debate is a never-ending discussion in the tennis world.

The discussion became more prevalent over the last 15 years as Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic battled each other for tennis supremacy.

They now have a combined 66 Grand Slams between them, far surpassing Pete Sampras’ 14 majors, a previous record that many thought would stand for decades.

While many fans have provided their verdict on tennis’ greatest, some of the players have also given their opinion, such as British number one Emma Raducanu.

Emma Raducanu names Novak Djokovic as the greatest tennis player of all time

There are plenty who argue the case for Federer as the greatest tennis player of all time, while some also argue for Nadal.

There are still some fans who would argue for Sampras, or Bjorn Borg, who won five successive Wimbledon titles to go with six French Open trophies.

But during an interview with Sky Sports in 2024, Raducanu named Djokovic, the winner of 24 Grand Slam titles, as the player she thinks is the greatest.

“In my opinion the tennis GOAT is Novak Djokovic for pure repeated quality,” she said. “But I think my favourite to watch is Roger Federer.”

Emma Raducanu says Wimbledon is her favourite place to play tennis

During her 2024 Sky Sports interview, Raducanu also named her favourite tournament to play in.

It perhaps comes as no surprise that the 22-year-old‘s favourite event is the Wimbledon Championships, her home Grand Slam.

She has yet to progress beyond the fourth round at SW19, but the thrill of playing on home soil at the game’s most prestigious event is something Raducanu thrives on.

“The best venue to play at is Wimbledon,” Raducanu said. “It’s my favourite tournament and the one I want to win the most.”
