Women’s Premier League (WPL) matches at the D.Y. Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai will take place behind closed doors on January 14 and 15 owing to municipal corporation elections in the city. Delhi Capitals (DC), still searching for their first win, will face UP Warriorz (UPW) on Wednesday, while reigning champions Mumbai Indians (MI) will take on the UPW on Thursday.
“The TATA WPL 2026 matches scheduled for January 14 and January 15, 2026, at the DY Patil Stadium, Navi Mumbai, will be conducted behind closed doors, without spectators. This decision has been taken in light of the Municipal Corporation Elections in Navi Mumbai on January 15, 2026,” the league said in a statement.

It confirmed that spectators will be permitted again from January 16, when Gujarat Giants will face Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
“Spectators will be permitted entry into the stadium from January 16, 2026 onwards, and all subsequent matches will be played with crowds in attendance,” the statement said.
The Navi Mumbai leg of WPL 2026 will conclude with a double-header on Saturday, with MI taking on UPW in the afternoon before DC take on RCB. The league will then move to Vadodara, where nine league matches, the playoff and the final will take place, with the summit clash scheduled for February 5.
