Alcohol in the stands would spoil football | Brief letters

Before legislating to permit alcoholic drinks to be consumed in the stands at football (Report, 23 September), Andy Burnham should attend a rugby international. He will find that his view of the match is constantly interrupted by spectators coming and going to replenish their supplies and/or empty their bladders. Be careful what you wish for, Andy.

It’s a great shame that the hedgehog-flavoured crisps of Welshpool are no longer available. They surely would have made it into Ammar Kalia’s top 50 (‘They smell of urinal cakes!’: 100 unusual crisp flavours, ranked – from truly awful to totally scoffable, 23 September)?
