First quarter snapshot
Jordan De Goey kicks his first goal for the season with his first touch late in the first quarter. It’s a surprise, but Collingwood has been winning the clearance game. However, Patrick Cripps won a clearance and Carlton found Curnow who kicked his first goal for the match. Scores are tight as is the contest. Cripps, the 2024 Brownlow medallist, has won his past two battles against Nick Daicos, the runner-up.
Goal: Carlton … finally
That’s a long time between drinks. Ollie Hollands with a beautiful kick. The Carlton player has two goals. All the Blues can do now is play for respectability. But it’s genuine junk-time.

Goal! Collingwood yet again ….
If the match wasn’t over, it is officially now. Collingwood lead by more than five goals in heavy rain.
Ned Long kicks this one. And he’d just been subbed on, replacing Jordan De Goey.
And that goal was met with a massive charge for the exits by Carlton fans. Yes, there’s no real reason to stay. You can’t really blame them.

Up and going in the last ….
I’ve said this already tonight: the rain is the heaviest it’s been all night. I’m not making that up. It’s reached a new level.

3QT: What a term by Collingwood
They were relentless, applying constant pressure and Carlton were found wanting. The match was up for grabs at half-time, but Collingwood have taken themselves to an almost unbeatable position, leading by 25 points.

Jake’s Take
Collingwood have completely owned this third quarter, on the back of much better work in the contest and on the outside with ball use. George Hewett did an excellent tag on Nick Daicos in the first half, but Daicos has had telling touches in this quarter, especially playing a hand in the goal that Shultz kicked earlier in the quarter. The pressure rating is another massive difference – the Blues have completely wilted on that score. Carlton’s fumbling has been awful this quarter. The Blues actually are fortunate to be within five goals.
Goal: Grand theft ….
In the teeming rain, Collingwood kept peppering. Then Schulz stepped up and pulled off a great steal. He ran into an open goal against the traffic and booted the ball deep into the stands at the Punt Road end. Good night Carlton ….
