Nick Kyrgios has been keen to change things in professional tennis for some time.
The Australian is arguably the most outspoken player on the ATP Tour and he is not afraid to voice what is on his mind.
He was part of a lawsuit brought forward by the Professional Tennis Players Association (PTPA) against tennis’ governing bodies in March.
Now Kyrgios has expressed one thing about tennis that he would like to see change during his time analysing the Wimbledon Championships on talkSPORT.
Nick Kyrgios says he would change the way tennis is broadcast
During a live episode on talkSPORT, Nick Kyrgios was asked what are his best and worst things about tennis are.
Kyrgios said he enjoys being able to travel the world as a tennis player, but he is not a fan of the sport’s broadcasting.
“The best part is travelling the world. This sport has brought me to every corner. I’ve met so many amazing people. I’ve crossed paths with so many different types of people, different cultures, different food,” Kyrgios said.
“The thing I love about tennis is it makes you grow up really fast. I was travelling at 13 or 14 and going through Asia and Europe. You see the world as a young kid and then you realise that this sport is a blessing, there’s no other sport like it.
“The worst thing, the broadcasting is brutal, that’s one part I would change, I want it to be more exciting. As someone that has played this game since I was seven years old and potentially my kids are going to want to play it.
“I want the game to continue to grow. I want to turn the TV on and feel excited when my kids are watching the commentators. At the end of the day, I love it and I just don’t want it to die out.”
When does Nick Kyrgios plan to return to tennis?
Kyrgios has been out of action since the Miami Open in March.
He defeated Mackenzie McDonald in round one and went on to face Karen Khachanov in the second round.
Kyrgios lost to the Russian 7-6, 6-0 and has not played since, but he is due to return to action during the upcoming American hard court swing which culminates with the US Open.
“Well, I was supposed to be back for Wimbledon, but I had a bit of a knee niggle three weeks ago, so I’m just trying to get back for the US swing,” Kyrgios told talkSPORT on July 2.
“I think we’re both in the twilight of our careers, but look, I really want to come back, I’m hitting the ball great. I had a bit of a session today, feeling good.”
