Jim Courier outlines the top priority that Carlos Alcaraz must focus on in his Wimbledon final vs Jannik Sinner

Today, Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner meet once again, this time to challenge for the Wimbledon title.

It is arguably the biggest event in the tennis calendar, and as such, the entire sporting world will be watching. It’s fortunate that the top two players in men’s tennis at the moment have also reached this stage, creating the perfect spectacle.

The shockwaves their clash at the French Open created have likely inspired so many new fans, and viewing figures for this meeting are expected to reach remarkable heights as even those uninterested in tennis will want to see these two face off again.

It’s hard to pick an overwhelming favourite when analysing the upcoming action, with pundits split when asked their opinion.

Jim Courier, however, regardless of who he thinks will win, has sought to offer one finalist some advice.

Jim Courier has advice for Carlos Alcaraz ahead of the Wimbledon final

Speaking on the Tennis Channel Live, after the panel had reviewed the devastating ladies’ Wimbledon final, attention then turned to today’s match-up.

After all, it’s the most hotly-anticipated clash in tennis at the moment, once again pitting Alcaraz against Sinner in a Grand Slam final.

And despite the former likely being the favourite, as the two-time defending champion with a favourable head-to-head record over the Italian, it is Carlos Alcaraz whom Courier has sought to offer some advice to.

He admitted: “I think it’s basically the same, it’s how much can you control what’s happening on the court?

“How much are you in charge out there when you’re serving? You obviously can start the point the way you want it to, but who is going to be dictating play out there?

“Both of them have immense defensive capabilities, but one thing that we’ve continued to pound on the table about, they get muted on the grass. It’s much more difficult to turn a point around when you get behind in the rally.”

Jannik Sinner is playing with freedom after his Grigor Dimitrov scare

Despite having been as close as a player can be to exiting Wimbledon, it actually feels as tough Jannik Sinner’s near-miss against Grigor Dimitrov has actually inspired him more than anything.

After all, some theorised that being so close to getting knocked out might make him question his place in the competition going forward.

There has been none of that.

After Dimitrov’s retirement, whilst two sets to love up, Sinner then went on to crush Ben Shelton with minimal fuss, before doing the same against Novak Djokovic in a startling show of youthful energy that the 38-year-old just could not compete with.

Alas, Alcaraz now awaits, promising the toughest task he has faced yet at the All-England Club. It seems impossible to predict whether this ruthless Italian can continue his form against the 22-year-old, or if he will once again fall short of his generational rival.
