Smith spoke lovingly about his connection with Gary Ablett jnr since moving to Geelong with the retired champion becoming an almost daily influence on the current Cats superstar.
When asked about those influences, Smith playfully batted off suggestions Dangerfield had helped him more than Ablett.
“He has been good, but Gaz has been awesome,” Smith said before jokingly asking Dangerfield if he won one Brownlow.
“Gaz has been amazing, we get coffee most mornings and the wisdom he has given on footy and life and separating the person and the player, has been amazing,” Smith told Seven.
