The action was along the lines as reported by The Indian Express a few days ago, when it was said that both leaders would not shake hands at the toss on Sunday, thereby continuing the precedent seen in men’s matches between the Asian neighbours.

Indian men’s T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav and Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha did not shake hands even once in three meetings during the recently-concluded Asia Cup 2025 in the United Arab Emirates.
The teams did not have the customary handshake after the game was over in any of the three matches. It remains to be seen if this precedent is maintained at the end of the women’s game on Sunday.
India come into the fixture after winning their opening match against Sri Lanka at Colombo by 59 runs via the DLS method. Pakistan were handed a sound beating by Bangladesh, who won by eight wickets to get their campaign off to a near-perfect start.
The Women in Blue have never lost an ODI to Pakistan since first facing them in 2005. They lead the head-to-head 11-0 and won their last meeting, also in an ODI World Cup in 2022, by 107 runs at Mount Maunganui in New Zealand.

India made one change to the side that beat Sri Lanka in Guwahati on Tuesday. Renuka Singh Thakur came in for Amanjot Kaur, who was forced to miss the match due to illness. The latter starred in the tournament opener with 57 off 56 balls and took 1/37 in six overs.
