The French Open draw has been released, as British players including Jack Draper now know what lies ahead of them.
Draper is the fifth seed at the French Open this year, after continuing his rise up the ATP rankings following an impressive start to the 2025 season.
This includes Draper winning Indian Wells, while more recently he has impressed on clay by reaching the final of the Madrid Open.
The British number one is likely to be one to watch in Paris this year, with Draper’s first round draw at the French Open certainly seeming favourable, especially compared to his compatriots.

Jack Draper handed dream first round French Open draw
French Open fifth seed Draper has been drawn to face Italian world number 68 Mattia Bellucci in the first round.
Bellucci has already beaten a top 10 player this year in Daniil Medvedev, but has lost his last five consecutive matches on the ATP Tour.
This should provide Draper with a huge boost, especially as he beat Bellucci in Tokyo just last year.
If Draper is to make his way past Bellucci he could play former top 10 player Gael Monfils, but the French veteran has recently been struggling with a back injury that forced him to withdraw from the Italian Open.
The first seeded player Draper could come up against is Hubert Hurkacz in the third round, but the big serving Pole will have to come up against teenage superstar Joao Fonseca if he is to make it there.
Jannik Sinner is probably the most significant threat in Draper’s half, and he could play the world number one if he was to reach the quarter-finals.
French Open 2025 | Draper’s Potential Opponent |
First Round | Mattia Bellucci |
Second Round | Gael Monfils/Hugo Dellien |
Third Round | Hubert Hurkacz (30)/Joao Fonseca/Benjamin Bonzi |
Fourth Round | Alex de Minaur (9)/Jakub Mensik (19)/Alexandre Muller |
Quarter-final | Jannik Sinner (1)/Arthur Fils (14)/Andrey Rublev (17)/Alejandro Davidovich Fokina (26) |
Semi-final | Alexander Zverev (3)/Novak Djokovic (6)/Daniil Medvedev (11)/Grigor Dimitrov (16) |
Final | Carlos Alcaraz (2)/Taylor Fritz (4)/Casper Ruud (7)/Lorenzo Musetti (8) |
However, Draper will probably not want to look too far ahead, as he was unable to win a match at the French Open in his two previous appearances.
Jacob Fearnley and Cameron Norrie drawn to face former Grand Slam champions
While Draper has been handed a favourable draw, his fellow British players Cameron Norrie and Jacob Fearnley face challenging openers.
Norrie, who is currently in Geneva, has been drawn to play former world number one Medvedev in the first round.
The French Open is by far Medvedev’s worst performing Grand Slam tournament, but Norrie will not be encouraged by their head-to-head.
Medvedev has won all four of his previous meetings against Norrie in straight sets, including their most recent that took place on the clay of Rome.
This year will be 23-year-old Scotsman Jacob Fearnley’s first appearance at the French Open, and he will play a former champion in the first round in Stan Wawrinka.
Wawrinka won the French Open back in 2015, and while he is now ranked at world number 139, the 40-year-old did recently reach an ATP Challenger final on clay in Aix-en-Provence.
The match between Fearnley and Wawrinka will be a first-time meeting between the pair, as the main draw of the French Open begins on Sunday, May 25.
