Jannik Sinner’s career trajectory is heading towards the all-time greats after capturing his first Wimbledon title.
At 23 years old, the Italian has already won four Grand Slam titles while securing his position as the number one player on the ATP Tour.
Achieving the number one status is great in itself, but keeping it can prove to be even harder. However, Jannik Sinner is doing a superb job of doing so.
He has been ranked world number one on the ATP Tour for 58 weeks, starting on June 10, 2024.

Following his Wimbledon victory, the Italian has entered an exclusive list that includes many of the sport’s greatest players.
Jannik Sinner is the fifth ATP World Number One to reach 12,000 points since 1990
By capturing a first Wimbledon title, Jannik Sinner increased his ATP points total to 12,030, eclipsing the almost impossible 12,000 points mark.
As per OptaScore since the inaugural ATP Tour season in 1990, Jannik Sinner is now just the fifth ATP #1 to crack 12,000 rankings points along with Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray.
It does not look like any other player will catch Sinner anytime soon, making him a strong favourite to finish the year as the world number one.
Carlos Alcaraz, who congratulated the Italian on social media after the final, sits around 3,500 points behind Sinner after losing 800 points following his Wimbledon Final loss.
Meanwhile, Alexander Zverev’s torrid time on grass continued at Wimbledon, and he sits on nearly half the points of Sinner, at 6,030.
For further comparison, new world number 10 Andrey Rublev sits on 3,110 points – nearly a quarter of Sinner’s total.
Iga Swiatek congratulates Jannik Sinner on Instagram
Fellow Wimbledon champion Iga Swiatek, who demolished Amanda Anisimova 6-0 6-0 in the Ladies Singles final, congratulated Jannik Sinner on Instagram after their victory.
Sinner and Swiatek both attended the annual Wimbledon Champions Ball, and they shared a short dance during the evening.
On Instagram, Swiatek said: “I’ve never experienced anything like this in my life and probably I never will. The way Wimbledon celebrates our sport is something else. I will cherish these memories forever. Thank you so much.
“Congratulations Jannik Sinner on making your dream come true. I’m so happy for you and your team.”
