Jon Wertheim has changed his mind over which man is winning the French Open but Andy Roddick disagrees

Now that we are midway through the French Open, Andy Roddick has seen fit to reassess his predictions for the event.

Sat alongside renowned journalist Jon Wertheim, they looked back on their entire draw made at the start of the tournament.

Of course, there were a few rogue claims that have since been proven drastically wrong, but thus far their finalists remain on track to prove them right.

Both had Carlos Alcaraz to win the entire event, as the reigning champion and a true clay-court specialist, beating Jannik Sinner in the final.

However, given what he’s observed, Wertheim has now changed his mind.

Jon Wertheim and Andy Roddick predict their men’s French Open winners

Speaking on the Served with Andy Roddick podcast, they eventually got to the latter stages of their respective draws with similar-looking predictions.

Roddick started by stating: ‘We both took Carlos winning the tournament, I have a feeling JW is going to flip.’

Well, his prediction in this regard was certainly correct, as Wertheim replied: ‘See, this is either a profile in courage or a profile in cowardice. Flip them! Jannik Sinner, 2025 Roland Garros champion defeating Carlos Alcaraz.’

Roddick, however, could not have disagreed more: ‘There’s no way that I am changing my pick from a guy that has won Monte Carlo, Rome, French Open last year because he had a bad 60 minutes against Dzhumer.’

The tennis world wants a Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner Roland Garros final

It’s not unfair to say that everyone is pining for the top two seeds to face each other in the final of this Grand Slam.

Were they to both make it that far, it would be by far the highest-profile meeting between the two, with last month’s Italian Open showdown the biggest so far.

Alcaraz came out on top in that iteration, but given it was the Italian’s first tournament back since Sinner was banned for three months, he can be excused for flagging.

At the French Open, however, he looks fitter and sharper than ever, bludgeoning everyone in his path so far.

Their meeting will be one of the most hotly-anticipated in years, pitting the two best players in the world against one another.

Picking a winner between them honestly seems impossible, but one thing’s for sure: fans watching will be guaranteed fireworks.
